Mutual of Omaha Receives Award for Community Service Efforts
Washington, D.C.—August 18, 2009— For their commitment to public service, The Financial Services Roundtable today awarded Mutual of Omaha with the Community Service Partnership Award. The award acknowledges Mutual of Omaha’s leadership within the community and the financial services industry as well as its partnerships with the government sector and community partners.
In celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2009, Mutual of Omaha said “thank you” to the city of Omaha for a century of success by launching “100 Days of Caring,” a huge volunteer effort targeted at non-profit organizations throughout the Omaha community.
Beginning in April and continuing for 100 days through July, more than 1,500 Mutual of Omaha employees spent over 7,000 hours making a difference at community agencies throughout Omaha, including a food bank, homeless shelters, agencies that serve at-risk youth, city parks and a children's theater.
In addition to the volunteer hours, the Mutual of Omaha Foundation covered the costs of the volunteer projects and provided an extra cash grant to each organization. Combined with the value of the volunteer time, the total donation provided through 100 Days of Caring equaled more than $700,000.
“Mutual of Omaha has a robust tradition of serving the people of Nebraska and we are proud to honor them with this award,” said Steve Bartlett, President and CEO, The Financial Services Roundtable. “Their ‘100 Days of Caring’ initiative highlights the respect and integrity that Mutual of Omaha has for its community.”
The Financial Services Roundtable represents 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies providing banking, insurance, and investment products and services to the American consumer. Member companies participate through the Chief Executive Officer and other senior executives nominated by the CEO.
Roundtable member companies provide fuel for America's economic engine, accounting directly for $85.2 trillion in managed assets, $980 billion in revenue, and 2.3 million jobs.
