2.9 MILLION AMERICANS HELPED THROUGH CS09!

Washington, D.C.—November 2, 2009— The Financial Services Roundtable today reported record third quarter results for Community Service 2009 (CS09), an industry effort to improve the communities in which we live and work. To date, CS09 has helped over 2.9 million people, easily surpassing its year-end goal of helping more than one million people.

Other impressive Q3 data include:

  • Over 80,000 financial services volunteers
  • 12,390 projects nationwide
  • $1.9 million raised for financial literacy efforts, a focus of the initiative for the second straight year

In addition to financial literacy, other projects of note include energy efficient upgrades, building homes, school supply drives, sponsorship of runs/walks and food/clothing drives.  

“I am proud at the news of our industry reaching almost 3 million people through CS09,” said Steve Bartlett, President and CEO of The Financial Services Roundtable. “Financial Literacy and public service continue to be paramount issues for our industry”

Thus far in 2009, 36,682 community service projects have been completed by 137,182 volunteers.
